Driver's License - Class 5

Road Safety Education Program

Driving Class1

If you are a beginner, you must follow the Road Safety Education Program for minimum 13 months.

The course has four phases: 12 theory classes and 15 practical classes must be completed. Each theoretical lesson lasts 2 hours, and each practical lesson lasts 55 minutes.

At the end of phase 1, you will be required to pass your first knowledge test. Following that, you may obtain your Learner’s License from the SAAQ with our first attestation. Non-citizens must book an appointment with the SAAQ first.

During phases 2, 3 and 4, you will be alternating between theoretical and practical lessons, in order to prepare for two tests at the end: the knowledge test and the road test at the SAAQ.

Phase 1

prerequisite to a learners license

5 theory classes once every week

Before acquiring your learner's permit, you must complete a month-time of theory classes and a first knowledge test at the end. You must obtain the grade of 75%, that is 18 correct answers out of 24.

Phase 2

Guided Driving

2 theory classes & 4 practical classes

When a student obtains the learner's permit, they may drive under the condition of being accompanied. As a guided driver, it is recommended that the first-time driving sessions may be with a monitor

Phase 3

Semi-Guided Driving

3 theory classes & 6 practical classes

During in-car 5 and 10, there will be a self-evaluation that will assess student's driving skills.

Phase 4

Semi-Guided to independent Driving

2 theory classes & 5 practical classes

During this phase, two hours will be combined for the observation session. A self-evaluation will be held during in-car 15.

When all classes are completed, an attestation will be provided by the school.
